Letter from Kyu - November 2023

Nov. 1, 2023

Dear Facilities Colleagues,

Much has happened since I last communicated with you.  The recent Appreciation Cookout event held in September was a wonderful opportunity to see everyone and reconnect as we began the new academic year.  We had great weather, the food was amazing, and the latest edition of the Facilities band was the best yet.  Thank you everyone who engaged in putting together another phenomenally successful event.

We had the opportunity to welcome our new Executive Vice President, Katie Callow-Wright, who came to us from the University of Chicago.  She was thrilled to be at our Cookout and very much enjoyed meeting and speaking with so many of you.  She has already spent a great deal of time visiting and learning about our various operations and looks forward to meeting more of you at future opportunities.

I am also very excited about our new Assistant Vice President of Strategy Management, Abby Reynolds, as she begins her new role in the Office of the Vice President.  Abby takes the place of Michael Avanti Lopez who left recently, and will have direct oversight of Organizational Effectiveness, the Real Estate Office, Office of Sustainability, Construction Communication, and Campus Accessibility.  She will also serve as my Chief of Staff as we continue to support the robust growth of the University.

I have some HR news to share.  As you know, Kay Sylla and Pam Waid have been our HR professionals for many years.  Kay and Pam are now fully dedicated to Facilities, rather than us having to share them with multiple other units.  As a result, Kay and Pam will have dedicated office space in MacMillan to meet with you more easily.  Their offices are located in Room 163.  They have been wonderful partners, and we welcome them to MacMillan.

I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Town Hall events held on November 2nd at 10:00 am in Frist Multipurpose Room and on November 7th at 10:30pm at JRR 399, when I will be sharing more information relevant to our organization.  I wish you all a happy, safe, and fun Fall season.
